noun: polyphony

  1. the style of simultaneously combining a number of parts, each forming an individual melody and harmonizing with each other.

Please join us for the opening of Polyphony, the debut exhibition of work by our phenomenal new roster of artists! Our first ever stable of represented artists was carefully curated with an eye not only toward top tier work, but with a conscious intention to include a distinctive set of voices and a diverse range of makers across all stages of career development: emerging, mid-career, established, and estate.

Polyphony brings the unique voices of 21 exciting Maine artists into harmony through a symphonic installation occupying the entirety of our 8,000 square foot show space. As compelling as online images of these individual works are, the scale and majesty of this exhibition is particularly powerful when viewed in the space, as the cohesive and immersive experience it was carefully orchestrated to be.

Our artists: Steve Bartlett, Sondra Bogdonoff, Aminata Conteh, Grace DeGennaro, David Driskell, Harold Garde, Jennifer Goldfinger, Tom Hall, Séan Alonzo Harris, Paul Heroux, Alison Hildreth, Lissa Hunter, Jamie Johnston, Hector Nevarez Magaña, Daniel Minter, Munira Naqui, Alexander Nolan, Ashley Page, Miklos Pogany, David Row, Ellen Weitkamp
