Cross-Section

TWO DECADES AT RUNNING WITH SCISSORS ART STUDIOS

November 16 - January 6

About the Show

Cross-Section pays tribute to the artists who have called Running With Scissors Art Studios their creative home over the past twenty years. The exhibition features an eclectic body of work representing the vast community of artists who have contributed to the ever-evolving artistic landscape of the studio. Kate Anker, the Owner and Director of Running With Scissors Art Studios, shared her enthusiasm: "We look forward to sharing some of the diverse work created at RWS, represented by the selected artists. This exhibition reflects our commitment to providing access to a nurturing and collaborative creative space. Serving hundreds of artists over 20 years, there are many others who have been integral parts of our story and create important work, we wish we could share them all.”

The exhibition also offers an insightful cross-section of the studio's evolution and the wide spectrum of artistic expression that has flourished within its walls. The art forms showcased include painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, ceramics, jewelry and more.

Emerging to established, self taught to highly educated all working in one place sharing ideas, resources and support. RWS is proud to welcome Cove Street Arts as a sponsor to the new RWS EMERGE Artist in Residency program in print or clay. A portion of the sales from the Cross-Section exhibit will be donated to the program to help existing and future local emerging artists stay, grow and build roots here in Maine.

The exhibition's duration ensures that both art enthusiasts and newcomers have ample time to engage with the creative energies that have emerged from the studio over two decades.
