Sarah Szwajkos

Most of my life, I have sought symmetry, alignment, perfection; a tight-fisted control was my default approach.

Now, I’m seeing that there are other ways. Using my camera – along with light, color and time – I’m loosening my grip, exploring chance and happenstance.

Light. Time. Color. Form. Composition.

These are my interests, my tools, my language.

Passing light through a lens, catching the results in pixels: the world in front of my camera becomes something new and different, something magical, perhaps miraculous – a phenomenon.
